Hi! My name is Sierra Archer, a photographer from Mckean County, Pennsylvania.
With five wonderful years put in with the high school yearbook, my photography skills were tapped into and formed through time capturing my peers memories, choosing the best photos for the book, and participating in formal trainings at the Jostens headquarters in State College.
When it comes to taking pet portraits and candids, I have had two years with my own dog, Sitka, to practice. I've learned through capturing him that pets have a lot to offer us when it comes to learning appreciation, patience, and joy! Through our pets, we can begin to live in the moment and recognize the significance of what's around us. A walk helps you notice the sunshine and the birds singing, playing in the yard brings back the sense of childhood, or just napping in a warm spot gives us room to understand what brings each of us peace. Our pets are family and bring us fulfillment - and photography can capture them in a new, beautiful light for owners.
On off-days, my muse and I can be found practicing tricks, taking walks on long dirt roads, and taking in every little bit that we can.
WHAT TO EXPECT
No Training Required
Many of Sitka's pictures are done with the combined effort of a my camera and my trained dog. However, I come prepared to capture your pet and their uniqueness. Specializing in candids, I want to capture your pet running, playing, and interacting with their environment (and especially doing something they love!)
Fear-Free Study
In an effort to make sure your pet is comfortable, I aim to take pictures wherever your pet is most comfortable. Those that love adventures are free to ask what locations I prefer to shoot at - otherwise, a nice backyard or the local baseball park will do just fine. In the case of dogs, I will always will bring extra length leashes, smelly treats (allergen free can be requested) and some sort of noisemaker (unless indicated otherwise).
Flexibility
While I may specialize in taking photos of dogs, I am ready and eager to meet any pet you'd like! I have experience working with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and the occasional child! Contact me with whatever pet you want lasting photos of and I will do my best to accommodate accordingly.
